Abstract

This paper deals with the design of amplitude modulated non-uniform Electromagnetic Bandgap (EBG) structures. The radii of the holes in the bottom ground plane of the substrate are varied according to amplitude modulated distribution and three different EBG structures are proposed with different modulation index. Both the simulation and measurement results are presented in the paper which shows that the modulation index can be used as an easy way to control the bandwidth, as well as, the isolation level.
