Abstract

A detailed evaluation of the suitability of the losipescu specimen, tested in the modified Wyoming fixture, for determining the in-plane shear response of a variety of composite materials is presented. Finite element analysis and more interferometry are used to assess the uniformity of the shear stress held in the test section of fibrous, sheet molding compound (SMC) and particulate composites, and aluminum alloy.
