Abstract

Congenital skin tag of the nose is uncommon. Prenatal diagnosis by ultrasonography is usually difficult. Herein is a report of a female baby with a congenital skin tag of the nose. Although her mother received regular prenatal examinations with a detailed ultrasound scan in the second trimester, the lesion was not detected prenatally. After reviewing the video-record of the prenatal level II ultrasonography, it was possible to demonstrate a minute lesion in the sections of her facial scan. This is a reminder that more care should be taken in checking for subtle fetal abnormalities. We now recommend routine video-recording of every level II ultrasound scan and that records are kept until after delivery. In this way, better quality control of prenatal ultrasound can be established.
