Contactless self-resonant induced movable converter for the linear synchronous machine

Abstract

This paper provides expandable and flexible contactless induced movable chopper for the linear synchronous machine. By using the ringing choke converter with distributed parallel windings (DPW-RCC), the configuration will be easily expanded when the power rating is increased for the linear synchronous machine. Therefore, no further redesign work is required. The associated analysis and design for the chopper by using DPW-RCC is also provided. It is believed that the associated investigation is applicable to the associated the movable chopper design for the linear synchronous machine, especially in the high power multi-level topology for the linear synchronous machine drives. By using high frequency self-resonant switching, which is better than the low frequency switching, the required power will be easily transferred from the fixed module on the ground to the moving module without contact. Again, the high frequency switching is self-resonant based on soft switching principle. That means the associated system loss will be decreased and the entire system efficiency will be improved considerably. This paper sets up design guide for the contactless DPW-RCC structure. It is believed that the associated investigation will be helpful to design the related contactless induced movable chopper for the linear synchronous machine.
