Abstract

This paper mainly investigates the controller design of a permanent magnet synchronous motor. In order to avoid the wastage caused by a long-term parameter tuning, based on traditional PI design procedures, the parameter design skill of Taguchi method is used to simplify the tuning procedure. In this paper, controller parameters and load torque are considered as the control factor and noise factor, respectively. Weighted maximum overshoot and steady state error is the chosen performance index. Following the analysis of S/N ratio, a set of optimal PI controllers can be obtained. Experimental results indicate that the derived PI controllers indeed provide better performances than the nominal PI does.
