Abstract

For switched-mode power supplies (SMPS) control, the proportional integral (PI) controller is popular because it's simple and it provides good performance. However, their performance will be deteriorated if the controlled system becomes nonlinear. Fuzzy PI controller generally has superior performances; however, their structures are somewhat more complicated. In this paper, a formula-type fuzzy PI controller is utilized. The presented fuzzy PI controller boasts the advantages such as simple and easy implementation. Moreover, their variable control gains are self-tuned formulas that have adaptive capability to handle nonlinearities of the given system. In this paper, the comparison between the presented fuzzy PI controller and the conventional one will be made and discussed. Simulation and experimental results will also be provided to verify the correctness of the presented technique.
