Abstract
The first observation of spatially discrete laser emission from the side of a square microcavity was reported. As such, spectrally resolved lasing modes were measured for four different sized squares. Thus, unidirectional laser emission from the spiral that was quite different from the three-lobe pattern of the mismatched two semi-circles was observed, although the two shapes appear identical.
