Effect of particle dispersion on the rheological behavior of LLDPE/CaCO3 composites

Abstract

The dispersion of filler has a direct influence upon the rheological behavior of filled polymer composites. This paper presents the steady-state and dynamic rheological behavior of liner low density polyethylene (LLDPE)/ calcium carbonate (CaCO3) composites with different degrees of CaCO3dispersion. An rheological model was used to fit the steady-state viscosity curves to elucidate the relationship between size of particles agglomerates and the rheological properties. Different filler dispersions resulted in different rheological behaviors and model constants in the equations.
