Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the effect of systematic nursing interventions on knowledge, attitude and self-care behaviors of patients with heart failure (HF). Patients and Methods: A quasi-experimental research design was applied to this study. Subjects were recruited from a cardiac medical outpatient clinic of a regional hospital. A total 80 subjects, which included 40 HF patients in the experimental group and 40 HF patients in the control group, was selected by using a purposed method. The experimental group received systematic nursing interventions by researchers using "The brochure for self-care behaviors of patients with heart failure". The control group received no systematic nursing interventions. Data, such as knowledge, attitude and self-care behavior, were measured by a structured questionnaire. Results: The findings of the study indicated that the systematic nursing interventions increased patients' knowledge, improved their attitude and increased their self-care behaviors. Conclusions: The systematic nursing interventions by "The brochure for self-care behaviors of patients with heart failure" could be supplied in clinics in the future.
