Abstract
This paper reviews the impact of the Export Trading Company Act of 1982. The ramifications of the Act are discussed and the characteristics of export trading companies are compared with those of general trading companies. The responses of medium- and small-sized firms, export management companies, and banks to the Act are analyzed. In light of the unenthusiastic responses from different parties, suggestions for further development of exporting trading companies and for government policies are proposed.
