Abstract
A case of popliteal cyst with solid components due to deposited tophi and pannus proved by surgery and pathology is reported. Sonography and computed tomography revealed a mass with solid and cystic components in the popliteal area. The solid components were isoechoic with muscle on sonograms. The signal intensity of the solid mass in the cyst was lower than that of the fluid and higher than that of the muscles on T2-weighted magnetic resonance images. Arthrograms showed a popliteal cyst with filling defects. Gout should be listed in the differential diagnoses of a complex mass in the popliteal area.
