Abstract

In this research, we demonstrate successful glomerular cells cultivation outside co-shelled alginate tubes rather than cells cultivation inside the alginate tubes to reduce the interference of growth space on cell proliferation and differentiation. Podocytes were seeded on the outerior of an alginate tube by a tube infiltration method into a cell culturing site, and cells were successfully attached on the outer of the alginate tube and formed tubular structures instead of a cellular microfiber tube after 7 days cultivation. The reconstructed glomerular tube will be used as an in-vitro model for drug testing, and also the first step toward re-establishing a fully functional artificial glomerular.
