Abstract

Starting in the 1980s, researchers began a series of research projects based on the premise that quality of care performed certain identifiable Quality Indicators (QI). More recent work has focused on the tactics that circumstances use to influence QI. This work suggests that tactics other than countries, such as fund, skill, habits, indigenousness, validity, reliability, and usefulness are often used by researchers to exam the QI. This review paper will summarize only research related to the challenges of Quality Indicator and provide example of the varying foci of the writings on this topic. A literature study was carried out using International Journal for Quality in Health Care (IJQHC) from January 2007 to January 2009. The search title terms employed was indicator. The results revealed that validity, reliability, usefulness, and adaptability appear to be important challenges in the development of QI system.
