Abstract
In this paper, a novel reversible data hiding scheme is presented to achieve the goals of hiding secret data into a Side-Match Vector Quantization (SMVQ) compressed image and lossless reconstruction of the original cover image. The SMVQ prediction is applied to a Vector Quantization (VQ) compressed image to yield the SMVQ compressed image. Distribution of the SMVQ compressed image is employed to achieve high embedding capacity. No extra indicators are required to distinguish the types of indices in the proposed scheme, which help provide higher hiding capacity and maintain the size of the encoded image is same as that of the original cover image. As documented in the experimental results, the proposed scheme can significantly enhance the hiding capacity and the embedding rate. Performance comparisons with other existing VQ/SMVQ based reversible hiding schemes are provided to demonstrate the validity of our proposed scheme.
