Abstract

Photoacoustic tomography (PAT) was explored to reconstruct biomedical image. The pulsed laser irradiated tissues to generate acoustic waves based on photoacoustic effect. In this study, we consider the application of LMS adaptive filter for photoacoustic imaging and investigate the performance of this method. Normally, the image spatial resolution depends on the central frequency of ultrasound transducer. By using LMS adaptive filter, we extract the PA signal from tissue with high SNR to reconstruct image. The result shows the better spatial resolution than original one beyond the physical restriction of the system. The spatial resolution can reach 200 μm.
