Abstract

Objective: This study will design and develop an APP prototype with the theme of transcendental meditation to help cultivate and enhance the creativity of employees in the cultural and creative industry. Background: The work of employees in the cultural and creative industry involves the creation of new ideas and contents. These people are creative and value originality at work, expression of personal will, and a thirst for continuous innovation. Transcendental meditation is a simple, natural and relaxing technique that enables the mind to experience higher levels of thought processes. As a new concept, method and strategy framework, ISDT (I-Sustainability Design Thinking) conforms to the demand of cultivating innovative talents in the current world. Methods: This study takes the design and development of a mobile application platform as a case study, and this platform is dedicated to using transcendental meditation training methods to enhance the creativity of creative industry employees. This case study adopts the form of a workshop, recruiting 28 creative design students to discuss the core issues and concepts of the product under the guidance of ISDT theory, and complete the development of the product prototype. Results: First, analyze the driving factors in the fields of society economy and technology from a macro perspective, and get the potential opportunity gap. Then analyze the user’s scenarios from a micro perspective, so as to get the key themes. Finally, a prototype concept of the product is developed and evaluated. Conclusions: ISDT description can effectively bridge the differences in cross-domain communication, provide a common orientation, user-centered, and comprehensive consideration of all stakeholders to establish a common goal of sustainable development.
