Abstract

Objective: Following the concept of I-Sustainability Design Thinking (ISDT), we will design and develop an APP with the theme of loving kindness meditation to help cultivate and enhance the mindfulness, spirituality and service quality of flight attendants in civil aviation industry. Background: Due to the job nature of flight attendants and the particularity of the work environment, it is determined that their psychology is always in the state of negative psychology. The main responsibility of a flight attendants is to ensure the safety and comfort of passengers on the flight. The positive psychology of a flight attendants is very important for the safety and service quality of civil aviation. Loving kindness meditation is a practice that allows practitioners to wish themselves and others happiness and maintain this emotional state anytime and anywhere. Loving kindness refers to giving happiness to oneself and other beings, which is not only a happy mood and a peaceful state of mind, but also a sound personality. Methods: Based on the current research status of sustainable design and related research results of service design, this study analyzes and studies the work and life of flight attendants, and extracts ISDT method for the “product design process” that affects the sustainable development of research and development activities, and use design practice cases as empirical evidence. Results: According to the concept and principle of ISDT, we developed an APP that integrates design thinking development model and mind mapping framework. It is used to guide the development process of loving kindness meditation APP. Conclusions: ISDT is a sustainable design method with the significance of moral positive energy. With the advantages of scientific and commercial design process, it guides design to be more inclusive and realizes the design vision of “design for positivity”.
