Abstract
In this paper, we apply the absolute and simulated propagation time delay to estimate the user location in mobile communications. The proposed method is compared with the existing methods using the absolute propagation time delay only; our method contributes to avoid the forced handover process in the case of GSM. We also develop a timing coefficient in dynamic state to mitigate the errors caused by nonline of sight propagation. Field trial results obtained from a commercial GSM network show that the presented method is more accurate than the existing methods.
