Abstract

This paper proposes a leaky-wave antenna implemented on mobile phone side rims for 5G millimeter-wave bands. The proposed leaky-wave antenna is formed by a microstrip line periodically loaded with series metal-insulator-metal capacitors. To cover both the 24.25-29.5 GHz and 37-40 GHz frequency bands, two of the proposed leaky wave antennas are combined by a diplexer. Measured results show that a 10-dB return loss bandwidth from 23.8 GHz to 27.1 GHz and 37.2 GHz to 40 GHz is achieved. The measured realized gains are all greater than 6.5 dBi in the frequency range.
