Abstract

We have studied the spin- 1/2 quasi-two-dimensional (quasi-2D) or anisotropic 3D Heisenberg antiferromagnets on the simple cubic lattice by high-temperature series expansions. We obtained the eighth-order series for the free energy and the staggered susceptibility series in anisotropy parameter γ. γ is defined as the ratio of interplane antiferromagnetic coupling J (is perpendicular to) to in-plane antiferromagnetic coupling J (is parallel with), γ = J (is perpendicular to)/J (is parallel with). The staggered susceptibility series is analyzed using the standard extrapolation techniques with the application of a conformal transformation method. The dependence of the Neel temperature on the anisotropy parameter γ (0 ≤ γ ≤ 1) is investigated. A comparison is made with related works. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V.
