Abstract
A new efficient 2-D LMS adaptive filtering algorithm is proposed in this work. The new algorithm costs N2/2-1 less multiplications, at the expense of N2/2 more additions than the existing 2-D direct-form LMS algorithms per adaptive iteration. Performance of the new algorithm is shown to be comparable to that of the known algorithms by theoretical analysis and simulation results, in the aspects of SNR and convergence rate. The new algorithm has N2+1 coefficients, in contrast to N2 coefficients of the conventional algorithms.
