Abstract

A novel dead time compensation method is proposed. The method calculates the difference between the ideal output voltage and the real one, and then compensates the effect via modification in the original controller software. This method can be applied to all controllers utilising space vector modulation techniques. The proposed approach will not affect the operating speed of the controller, and no additional hardware is needed. Simulation and experimental results illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. Indexing terms: Induction motor drives, Dead-time compensation
