N2 - This paper illustrates three types of sustainers and their characteristics are compared. The basic full-bridge and full-voltage sustainers are used to compare attributes with the proposed half-voltage sustainer. Details of the circuit operation are reviewed. From the experimental results, performance such as efficiency and luminance are assessed to show the effectiveness of the proposed half-voltage sustainer. Finally, the Design of Experiment, such as the Taguchi Method, is used to assess the optimal luminance for the plasma display panel (PDP). It is believed that the proposed circuit that achieves better performance will be very appropriate for the practical application of the PDP sustainer circuit.
