Abstract

This work presents an approach for reducing engine vibrations of scooter motorcycles based on the optimum design of the engine balance mass to minimize the forces transmitted to the chassis. The balance of the slider-crank mechanism is introduced first. Then, based on vector loop method, kinematic coefficients, and power equation, we derived kinematic and kinetic equations for the system. A numerical example is given to illustrate the application of this optimum design technique based on Augmented Lagrange Multiplier algorithm.
