Abstract
Background. Technical experience with balloon angioplasty in patients with anomalous coronary arteries is limited. The key factor is selection of an appropriate guiding catheter. Methods and Results. A 53-year-old male patient with acute inferior wall myocardial infarction from a diseased anomalous left circumflex coronary artery (LCx) is presented. Percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA) was performed to recanalize the infarct-related LCx. However, in deployment of a cononary stent after PTCA was unsuccessful. No angina was reported after discharge. Conclusion. PTCA of anomalous origin of LCx can be performed successfully with suitable guiding catheters, guide wires and balloons.
