Abstract

We study the performance of low-density parity check (LDPC) codes in Poisson optical channels with pulse-position modulation (PPM). We modify the iterative decoding algorithm used for binary phase-shift keying (BPSK) modulation in AWGN channels. The simulation results show that the PPM system outperforms the on-off keying (OOK) system. The performance of the LDPC-coded PPM system with imperfect synchronization is also shown.
