Primary intestinal malignant fibrous histiocytoma presenting as a pelvic mass: Report of a case

Primary and metastatic malignant fibrous histiocytoma (MFH) of the alimentary tract is uncommon, even though it is the most frequently diagnosed malignant soft tissue tumor in adults. Only a few cases have been reported in the medical literature. Clinical presentations of published cases include dysphagia, abdominal pain, gastrointestinal bleeding, signs of acute or chronic obstruction, body weight loss, perforation and abdominal mass. We report a 61 year-old woman with primary MFH of the small intestine presenting as a pelvic mass. She has been living for 27 months after surgical removal of entire tumor and adjuvant chemotherapy.
