Abstract

The first chloride-containing caryophyllane-type sesquiter-penoid, designated as rumphellatin D (1), was isolated from gorgonian coral Rumphella antipathies. The structure of 1 was established by spectral-data analysis. Rumphellatin D (1) showed moderate inhibitory effects on elastase release by human neutro-phils.
