Abstract

Scalp and calvarium is a common region needing reconstructive surgery. The etiologies of the defect include blunt or sharp weaponry assault, solar radiation, and traumatic avulsion. Scalp defect may result from post-neurosurgical resection or intracranial decompression, where composite defect with or without cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leak is anticipated. This chapter provides an overview of regional anatomy, reconstruction logistics, and workhorse flaps for scalp and calvarium reconstruction. The roles of hair restoration surgery and current view of allotransplantation are also discussed.
