Abstract

Service is a kind of business process that contains ordered activities in which service providers and requesters interact with each other in a social or technical manner. Explicit describing service is essential as the labeling of physical product in that services can be discovered, composited, and managed. This study defines Service Configuration Item as an interaction-based service description framework to support service designers and managers on managing and analyzing service processes. The framework explicitly describes human-to-human, human-to-machine, and machine-to-machine interactions among service participants. A healthcare service is used as the example to explain how the framework can be used to describe a service-oriented business process.
