Abstract
The spectral transmissions of various lenses were analyzed using a spectrophotometer to clarify their ultraviolet (UV)-blocking efficacy. Results showed that UV CR-39 and polycarbonate lenses provided better protection than did clear CR-39 and glass lenses, and UV contact lenses had better UV-blocking efficacy than clear contact lenses. Also, both hard and soft intraocular lenses from Alcon and Pharmacia & Upjohn were capable of blocking UV radiation efficiently.
