Abstract

The trends and opportunities in system-on-a-chip (SoC) integrated circuit (IC) design for the networking communication industry were presented. The SoC design methodology leads to latest IC design business models and electronic computer aided design (CAD) tools development. It is found that SoC design for communication application reduces the unit cost while large-capacity/high-speed/accurate CAD tools for IC development facilitates the SoC design methodology.
