Abstract
This paper presents INER's development of test bed and Typical Control Loop (TCL) for advanced Instrumentation and Control (I&C) systems of nuclear power plants in Taiwan. INER constructed a simplified constitution of the process loop facilities in order to simulate basic operations of a power plant and also scale down the components and pipeline layouts needed for those essential control systems that support operation of power plant. It is designed based on the integrated digital control system at the I&C system laboratory of Nuclear Instrumentation Division of INER. The automatic control of water level and pressure of TCL was implemented by the distributed control system (DCS). The operation of typical series from Foxboro to construct a real environment, every piece of information and status needed to operate in this environment can be displayed on monitors of DCS workstation. The user-friendly man-machine interface design makes the operator easily to operate the TCL and get controller's parameters of TCL to conform behavior to meet the specifications of performance index. The objectives of test bed are fulfilled by DCS design, implementation and testing, control algorithm research and development, network technology research and development, I&C system verification and validation, dynamic HFE (Human Factor Engineering) design evaluation.
