Abstract

The slower-frequency oscillation of heart rate has been reported in congestive heart failure, but the clinical implication is ambiguous. In this paper, a new approach was proposed to detect the slower oscillation and calculate the corresponding characteristics. Our result demonstrates that the slower oscillation is present in seven of 11 patients with severe congestive heart failure and the frequency and time duration distribution of the slower oscillation is distributed with a decaying oscillation amplitude from 0.008 to 0.025 Hz.
