Abstract

In this paper, the error in volume measurement caused during the MR imaging scheme will be discussed by estimating the volume of a football through the MR images of it, and estimating the volume of an oval by mathematical simulation. The result shows that the settings of slice thickness, slice gap, and starting slice position will influence the result of volume measurement. Especially, the error caused by the setting of starting slice position will exceed 8% that may affect the diagnose of clinician. According to the result of this study, the setting of starting slice position set at the base of heart will be suggested when MR heart image is acquired.
