title = "The influence of sensory disturbance on postural control during spin turn 180°",
abstract = "We studied the contribution of visual and proprioception to postural stability by recording the postural sway during spin turning with eyes open or eyes closed. The center of mass (COM) trajectory was recorded in 10 subjects mean aged 22.1 years old turning on a flat surface or foam surface. Four postural dependent variables of COM displacements in the directions of Medial-Lateral Sway, Anterior-Posterior Sway, Maximum Pelvic Rotational Velocity, and Average Pelvic Rotational Velocity were calculated. Significant differences in M-L Body Sway were observed in both FLO-FO group (P =0.004) and FLC-FC group (P=0.02). The greatest COM variability was observed in the M-L body sway direction between spin turn on flat surface and foam surface either open eyes or close eyes. Further, an interesting relationship between the measures of COM variability and body sway velocity was described. The results indicated that the parameters M-L Sway and A-P Sway could be used to evaluate the postural stability of spin turn.",
