Abstract

Our ideas about the role of the mannose receptor (MR) in antigen presentation and the immune response are changing rapidly. Here, Luisa Martinez-Pomares and Siamon Gordon who have already proposed one alternative presentation pathway, now suggest a further possibility: complexing of C-type lectins with the surface MR and their transport/targeting to specialized lymphoid organ cells.
