Abstract

A QoS aware control strategy is proposed to be employed in an optical packet switching for multimedia applications in this paper. The underlying switch, M-B-Quadro switch, is a multi-buffer switched delay line based optical switching node with the bypass lines. By employing a novel switch control mechanism, denoted as LQS, the switching node can not only resolve packet contentions effectively but also provide desired differentiated services for multimedia applications. Performance results via simulations have confirmed the validity of such a switch design.
