Abstract
The (5,3) single-walled gold nanotube (SWGNT) based on VASP plane-wave ultrasoft pseudopotentials code was studied. It was shown that the nanotube has a helical pitch of 10.05 nm or a natural length of 20.1 Å per unit cell at the minimum total energy. It was found that the nanotube is a robust nanostructure capable of enduring large elongation without changing its conductivity. The nanowire was suggested to be a promising ingredient for constructing various nanoelectronic circuits for further applications in nanoscience and technology.
