Abstract

A new model for translational medicine has been created at the Center for Translational Research in Biomedical Sciences (CTRBS) at Kaohsiung Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in the southern city of Kaohsiung in Taiwan. This chapter describes how the core value of a private enterprise in Taiwan has resulted in the very first translational medicine center in Taiwan, along with the strategies employed by Chang Gung Medical Foundation to use private funding to implement the philosophy and goal of the CTRBS in advancing biomedical research, especially translational medicine.
