From 1987 to 1994, 16 patients with parotid carcinoma were diagnosed and treated in our department. Twenty-five percent of the 16 patients presented with stage-I disease, 31.2% with stage-II disease, 25% with stage-III disease, and 18.8% with stage-IV disease. The treatment modalities of choice are surgery and surgery combined with post-operative radiotherapy in the high grade malignancies. Overall survival rates were 93.7% at 2 years, and 72.7% at 5 years. Twenty five percent of patients developed local recurrences and 12.5% developed neck recurrences. Most of the recurrences were treatd by salvage operations with satisfactory outcome.
