Abstract

In terms of understanding the current situation and address problems associated with an aging population, the online survey is a possible research method. But it seems to be less applied in collecting extensive user information for the elderly, mainly due to the lack of computer literacy. This study reviewed an actual online survey case in Taiwan, with more than twenty thousand elder participants, and discussed how to understand the users through usability tests, confirm user needs, and eliminate usability problems. The findings of the case study summarize the difficulties and importance of the elderly user research and discuss the optimization of the implementation details of the elderly usability test. This study also presents several critical factors in designing a senior-friendly online survey system and gives future research recommendations on senior-friendly.
