Abstract

This paper reported the first operating large-scale radiant floor cooling system in Taiwan. The radiant cooling system is supplemented with displacement air supply. The system provides comfort air cooling for a large lobby of a modern opera house. The total area of radiant cooling floor is about 4500 meter square. This study has collected and analyzed the operating data at an interval of 30 minutes in the cooling season of 2017. Risk of condensation has been analyzed. When the floor temperature (TEW) is lower than the dew point temperature (DTE), it is defined as “risky point of condensation'. There are totally 24342 risky points found, and nearly 90% of them happen in five particular subsystems. This study focus on these five high-risk subsystems with the analysis on (1) on business hour/off business hour, (2) performance /non-performance, (3) weather condition (OK/NG), with the environmental condition of (1) unusually low floor temperature (2) unusually high dew point temperature. The study found that under the weather NG period, the risk points increased. However, the major factor influencing the risk of condensation is “unusually low floor temperature” instead of “unusually high dew point temperature”.
