摘要
The surface optical appearance or gloss of hollow fiber membrane has been investigated as a quality control tool for its production. The effects of processing temperatures and various gloss measuring parameters were examined. It was demonstrated that the surface appearance could be easily quantified in seconds with relatively high precision. Preliminary results showed promising correlation between fiber surface gloss and key membrane properties. This could greatly simplify the fiber quality selection processes and would provide an excellent opportunity to develop a quick quality control technique for fiber membrane production.
