Investigating the effect of supercritical CO2 ON the simulated recycling of polypropylene

摘要

This study presents a simulated manufacturing methodology integrated with a thermo-oxidative aging process to investigate the effect of supercritical CO2 on the recycling of polypropylene. Three recycling generations were investigated viz. X, 2X and 4X. The simulated recycling process showed statistically standard properties until second recycling generation (X and 2X). However, beyond the 2X generation i.e. for the 4X generation, significant decrement in properties was observed. This could be due to the additive heat history developed as part of the thermo-oxidative aging process.
