Pedunculated giant liver hemangioma mimicking a hypervascular gastric tumor on Tc-99m RBC SPECT

Physical examination revealed an asymptomatic abdominal mass in a 53- year-old woman. Liver ultrasound and a CT scan revealed a huge pedunculated mass, probably from the left hepatic lobe. Tc-99m RBC liver SPECT showed an area of increased blood pool activity that measured 8 x 8.5 x 10 cm in the left upper quadrant. At surgery, a cavernous hemangioma, about 10x15 cm in diameter, was seen arising from the left hepatic lobe with protrusion into the lesser sac.
